The Rene Coffee Table
This piece began as a long-term parametric design exploration, centered around the use of Voronoi mesh structures as both a formal and aesthetic strategy. The concept evolved through iterative modeling, with an emphasis on how computational geometry could inform material expression in furniture design.
The table is topped with a chamfered amber glass surface, selected for its warmth and clarity, which subtly offsets the complexity of the base.
The mesh geometry was developed using Rhino and Grasshopper, and translated into nine stacked layers of 1/8" Baltic birch plywood. Each layer was laser cut and hand-finished with a black walnut stain. The basin structure is CNC-milled from marine-grade Baltic birch to a precise 40" x 18" profile, softened with radiused corners for both durability and refinement.

I joined Oregon Trailer as an assistant to the owner and purchasing agent, supporting day-to-day operations in a small but fast-moving custom trailer shop. Over the course of a year, my role expanded significantly as I began contributing to broader systems, designs, and brand development.
`
I led a full rebrand of the company, designing two new websites and a custom pc/mobile 'Trailr' quotation system, along with a dynamic web-based Bill of Materials to further evaluate landing costs and adjust pricing over time.
OT was an amazing place to work. There was a sense of community in the small scale team we were. A team of 5 individuals in Eugene, making 30 or so trailers per year.
Designed at home by the Christianson Brothers, the recipe for a quality product is in everything they do.
